I can't rate the generator as I haven't used it yet.

The one thing I haven't found as I look at all the information on the generator it doesn't say if it can be used on an upright freezer. It mentions a chest freezer. I put the 6 month date on the calendar so I will remember to charge the generator as the information says. I haven't received any of the other things that is suppose to come with the cost of the generator. I think it is nice that a lot of things can be charged with the generator.

Good for short term

I wish they would have said how long it will last while using it, and how much power it puts out. 5 hrs, for one light bulb isn't that long. Glad I only got on, and not the two I was thinking about. But it better then nothing and is easy to take with you.

Not sure if this is worth it for my needs

What I wanted this unit to do is provide me with power by plugging it into a wall socket and getting power to a lamp and freezer, but being able to use throughout the house This after installing a shut off switch at the incoming PG&E box so no power comes in or goes out, The house would be self contained, I was told this would not work so it must lose power threw the wires, Has any one tried this, I believe the person I talked to was unsure or I did not explain what I was after, if this worked I would buy the unit and upgrade. I was trying to not have to move the unit around the house to use a light source

Partial review

Haven't really had enough time with it for a thorough review, but I did try it out. Using it to run an infrared heater (also 1500 watts), it started beeping after only 15 minutes. I hooked up the solar panels to recharge - it clouded up on me, but it still charged up slowly. I'm not sure yet how much it will help in a pinch, but it will definitely be better than nothing.

At 86, I find it a bit heavy....couldn't lift it out of the shipping box. I think that can be remedied by getting someone to build a little platform of wheels. I was very confused and intimidated by the user manual discussion of amps. wattage, etc and simply waited until my son came to help me set up and charge. Once done, it seems to be very simple to operate. My only real concern is learning that an EMP will destroy it. Since that seems to be a very real possibility, it removes quite a bit of the security in my mind. Seems like a really long-term outage is just when one would need the generator the most.

Basics only

I have only gone as far as taking it out of the box, reading the instructions, and plugging a lamp into it just to test it. From the instructions I take it that you can probably only use it for a couple appliances at best. I still need to test the solar panel recharging aspect.
I was hoping for something more along the line of a backup generator for the whole house since our state gets hurricanes every now and then.
PPG: From what I have read on EMP hits, you could put the unit back in the box and completely cover the outside of the box with aluminum foil to give a Faraday cage effect to protect the unit or buy EMP protection bag they offer.

Not enough power

I returned the generator because I use a C-pap machine and it only lasts 6 1/2 hours and I didn't want to purchase another generator.

Question For Myself

Buying your generator really put a hole in my budget, and it is going to take a while for me to get everything straightened out. Also, the solar panel is so heavy that I can hardly move it around. In fact it is still in its original box leaning on my closet door. I might add that I am a senior who is 81 years young!
